New year update from MD Matt Smith

Happy new year 2022As we begin a new year we would like to thank our customers and suppliers for your continued support.

2021 was a challenging year for the freight industry, the impact of Covid-19 caused fluctuations in global trade, which lead to pressure on capacity, delays and increased rates.

The impact of Brexit continues to evolve, from 1st January 2022 there are new rules for UK/EU imports. Customs declarations will be required ‘upfront’ Click here for information on the changes. But with increased customs training and working closely with our European partners we continue to keep goods moving.

With the emergence of new Covid-19 variants and rapidly increasing cases it is very hard to make predictions for this year. Covid-19 will remain a central variable for shipping in 2022.

The longer the pandemic lasts, the longer ocean supply chains will be disrupted and the longer freight rates will stay exceptionally high, but the feeling is that sea freight rates will start fall after Chinese New Year, and that air freight rates are expected to remain high due to limited passenger travel, but with the surge in e-commerce, demand for converted and new air freighters will continue to boom in 2022.

Growth and Developments at TPS Global Logistics

We expanded our fulfilment services last year with the addition of a third warehouse in Aylesford providing us with a total of 130,000 sq ft of storage space complimented with the required pick and pack services. Enhancements in our warehouse management system mean we can offer seamless integration to various selling platforms or systems. We have also invested in a new tractor unit and are currently looking for another.

We have made some excellent additions to strengthen the team over the past year meaning an increase of over 20% in staff numbers. I can’t praise the team enough for the attitude and effort they have applied during such a difficult time, and as numbers grow we are proud that we continue to promote staff within the company and reward them for their efforts.

Finally, I would like to wish you, your family and colleagues a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year, we look forward to continuing to work together.

Please contact myself or one of the team to discuss your shipping, storage and distribution requirements, we are always happy to help and advise.
