Matt Smith
Managing Director
As founder and owner of TPS Global Logistics, Matt started the company at the age of 23. He has a calm but positive approach and is always looking at new opportunities to grow the business, with nearly 30 years experience in the industry.
One of the most enjoyable parts of his role is building relationships worldwide with customers, suppliers and colleagues which in many cases become friendships.
Matt is extremely proud of what the team have achieved. Meeting King Charles in 2023 and the late Queen Elizabeth in 2015 are career highlights. He is passionate about working with the Department for Business and Trade as an Export Champion to help increase the UK’s international sales.
Matt shows very strong work and team ethics which filter through the company and come as a result of playing football for 25 years when he was younger, reaching a semi-professional level at Dartford FC. He now enjoys managing his son’s junior team and playing golf.
Matt loves spending time with his family and getting the most out of life.
Toby Smith
Fulfilment Director
Toby joined TPS full time in January 2014 after working in Private Equity. He previously worked at TPS part time in the warehouse while at University achieving a degree in History and Politics.
Toby has overseen various departments, including Sea Freight, Projects, Transport Planning and Fulfilment. After a spell as Domestic Accounts Manager, Toby is now a Director and Shareholder, focusing on developing new business, existing customer relationships and overall business strategy.
In his spare time, Toby plays golf – holding a scratch handicap, he is a season ticket holder at West Ham and enjoys spending time with his family which includes walks with his dog, Blair.
Katie Mills
Air Freight and European Director
Katie joined TPS in October 2008 as the companies first apprentice. She worked in all the departments before settling in Air Freight. Where she rapidly progressed to become one of the 3 TPS Directors and a shareholder in her current role as Air Freight & European Director.
Her responsibilities include strategic business leadership and overseeing the Air & European team as well as account managing her portfolio of clients.
Outside of work she enjoys spending time with the family, travelling and holidaying as much as possible!
Paige Carpenter
Sea Freight Manager
Paige started her career at TPS in 2015 as Sea Freight apprentice. Having accelerated through the company to the role of Sea Freight Manager, Paige oversees this department and the manages the sea freight team.
Her day to day responsibilities include negotiating prices, offering excellent customer service, dealing with quotes, booking and clearance. Paige will be celebrating 10 years with the company in February 2025.
Paige has a love for travel, with her next adventure hopefully taking her Down Under. At home, she enjoys the company of her husband and two beautiful Bengal cats.
Amy Pope
Air Freight and European Manager
Amy joined TPS in September 2017 on the award winning TPS apprenticeship scheme. After settling in Air Freight, she was recently promoted to Air Freight & European Manager, her role now involves managing the air freight and European team and overseeing the daily operations of the department.
In her spare time, Amy enjoys going on holiday and spending time with her family.
Tracy Gillespie
Senior Account Manager
Tracy joined TPS in September 2017 working part time in the Accounts Department. She soon expanded her role to work alongside one of our fulfilment customers, offering both back office and fulfilment services for them where she has seen year on year growth with this brand.
Her role now consists of Managing part of the fulfilment team as well as handling several accounts for customers requiring B2B and B2C services. Tracy is also responsible for onboarding all new customers who require fulfilment services at TPS.
Outside of work she enjoys spending time reading, photography, travelling and spending time with her family and friends.
Michael Broers
Warehouse Manager
Michael joined TPS in February 2017 as part of the sales team but quickly transitioned to warehouse operations to help set up the newly acquired warehouse in Aylesford. In May 2019, he was appointed warehouse manager, a role in which he enjoys the challenges and responsibilities. He ensures the warehouse operates efficiently, meeting targets like pick accuracy and turnaround times, achieved by building a reliable and positive team.
In his spare time, Michael is the social secretary of the Kent Soul Choir, organizing events and participating in concerts. He also enjoys DIY projects around the house on weekends.
Harry Stockford
Domestic Operations Manager
Harry started working for TPS in December 2022 within the sales department. He quickly transitioned into a role overseeing a broad range of tasks, including facility management and health and safety. Recently, he moved into the Domestic Operations Manager role, where he oversees domestic transport, account management, facility management, and health and safety. Harry has thoroughly enjoyed being part of the TPS family and looks forward to many more years of the business growing.
Outside of work, Harry is a keen DIY enthusiast who gets a buzz out of renovating properties. He also loves spending time with his family and going on long dog walks.
Gary McKendry
Fulfilment and Domestic
Transport Coordinator
Gary started his TPS career in January 2022. His main role within the company is to oversee the domestic transport side of the business. This includes ensuring all TPS vehicles, big or small, are roadworthy and that all PMIs, servicing, and MOTs are up to date. Additionally, Gary is an account manager, a role he loves because it allows him to work closely with various customers, ensuring their needs are met and forming great relationships.
Gary’s passion is football, despite being a long-suffering Charlton Athletic fan, and he loves spending as much time as possible with his wife and children.
