3 weeks now until Brexit. Are you ready?

BrexitIt’s just 3 weeks today until Brexit. This is not the time to take a ‘wait and see’ approach.

We can’t answer the Deal or No Deal question, but we can recommend a few things to do now, so you are ready for new customs arrangements, to avoid any delays to your goods.

We’re here to help, please share if you think you know of a business needing advice and guidance for importing and exporting.

We are expecting to leave the EU on 31st October 2019 with or without a deal.

This means goods could undergo customs clearance, at TPS Global Logistics we will handle customs processes for you. But to avoid delays we will need the following information from you.

Are you ready, check now whilst there is still time to prepare.

1. Register for an EORI number
You need an EORI number to trade. Details and the application form here.

2. Customs Forms will be needed. Shipments with vague descriptions can be delayed.
You will need to supply clear descriptions of your goods. What are the goods; What are they made of; What are they used for?
Vague Description – Nuts
Clear Description – Hexagonal aluminium bicycle nut

3. Supply the Value and Origin of your goods
The value determines the level of duty and some origins qualify for lower or no customs duty. More info on how to calculate value here

4. Find out the Commodity Code of your goods
This classification is the responsibility of every importer, it is required for customs declarations. Guides available here.

5. Apply for Transitional Simplified Procedures (TSP)
Introduced by HMRC TSP help business import goods from the EU by giving extra time to submit a full declaration and pay customs duty. Register here

As your Freight Forwarder we are here to help.
