We are delighted to announce that we are finalists in both the Medium Business of the Year and Family Business of the Year Award at this years Kent Excellence in Business Awards.
The awards are staged and produced by KM Media Group and Kent County Council. The judging panel has shortlisted a host of firms from across the county for what has long been acknowledged as the most prestigious awards ceremony of the year.
The winners will be announced at the gala awards night, which this year takes place on Thursday, June 20, at the Kent Event Centre in Detling.
Cllr Mark Dance, cabinet member for economic development at Kent County Council, said: “Kent is full of vibrant businesses, some of the finest in the UK, and the KEiBAs are about celebrating the best of the best.
“Kent businesses are making a difference. They are showcasing what a great county Kent is to live, work and play – and long may that continue.”
2019 is our 16th year of trading, and recent growth, branding and positioning has gained recognition within the international freight industry. In January this year Matt Smith, Managing Director accepted the Department of International Trade role of South East Export Champion. Helping to drive growth of the UK economy, by supporting businesses to sell products and services overseas.
Commenting on reaching the final 3 in both categories at the KEiBA awards, Managing Director Matt said ‘We believe that our competitive advantage as a small company is that we are all hands on and offer a very personal service, building our business model on one to one account management, our customers like to speak to the same person and build a business partnership over the years.’
‘We pride ourselves on our customer service, freight forwarding is competitive and most business is driven by price, loyalty can be hard to achieve, our customer churn is very low, it is our service that sets us apart. Churn amongst small to medium sized freight forwarding businesses is 60% so we know we are above average for the industry. Our employees give us a competitive edge, we attract, develop and retain the best talent. We like our staff to feel they are part of the TPS Global family.’
Following investment in 2017 for the warehouse refurbishment, the 2018 expansion of our domestic fleet of delivery vehicles and drivers included addition of 5 more commercial vehicles including an articulated lorry.
The implementation of some of our investments couldn’t be more timely with the uncertainty surrounding Brexit.
‘Using our own team gives us control of the customer service as well as price and availability. This has been a considerable investment and we believe this will accelerate our growth and place us in a strong position to assist export businesses’, said Matt Smith, Managing Director
Matt explains that the success of this customer service strategy is shown in the steady growth of the business. We are proud of the fact we still serve 4 customers who have been with us since we began trading in 2003, and 65% of our current clients have trusted us with their business for over 6 years.
