Christmas is just around the corner and a quick peek into our warehouses reveals it’s still all systems go with retail fulfilment. In August 2024 the value of internet retail sales in the UK reached nearly £2.3 billion and globally ecommerce sales are expected to reach $6.09 trillion, which is an 8.4% increase on 2023.

Our warehouse team are used to handling the peaks and troughs of seasonal logistics. We have over 20 year’s experience of supply chain logistics, eCommerce and retail fulfilment.

When the warehouse team are busy everyone pulls together and helps, especially at this time of year – even our office dog Blair has been helping with the distribution of the Christmas decorations!

When it comes to the transportation of your products, we can help with the whole supply chain, from manufacturer to customer via, sea, air, rail or road freight, storage worldwide, pick, pack and final mile delivery. More on our services here and how we can help with your retail operation.

We are now into December and peak season will be drawing to a close, at this point we all start celebrating the lead up to Christmas with our colleagues, friends and family.

Every year the TPS employees nominate a charity for our December fundraising activities – starting with Christmas jumper day next week, we have a series of bakes off, games and competitions and the company matches all the money raised by employees.

Porchlight-homeless-charityThis year the TPS charity is Porchlight – who offer support and solutions to anyone facing homelessness, poverty or ill health in the Kent and Medway area.

Homelessness in Kent and Medway is a significant issue, exacerbated by the ongoing cost of living crisis. Nationally homelessness has increased by 27% since last year, and this is likely an underestimate as people sleeping in hidden locations such as cars are missed.

Porchlight support people facing lack of shelter, poor mental health and social isolation, which leads to a decreased life expectancy of 43 for women and 47 for men. They offer safety, stability and respect, creating a safety net so that everyone can find the support that’s right for them.

Their staff offer immediate crisis support on the streets aiming to find safe and secure accommodation quickly.

Followed by one-to-one support tailored to the individual, providing care, compassion and understanding throughout our supported accommodation, and community services, signposting to our community partners to ensure a fully holistic approach.
